Passing of C.V.F.D Charter Member Mr. Gordon Hilldrup

Chancellor Fire and Rescue regrets to inform the community and the Department that Charter member Gordon Hilldrup passed earlier this morning. Mr. Hilldrup began his tour with Chancellor Volunteer Fire Department, Incorporate, April 20th 1956, as a fireman. He held numerous positions within the department including serving as our Vice President from April 1956 to June 1957, President June 1964 to December 1967, and Vice President again June 1961 to June 1962. Mr. Hilldrup was one of twelve men to make the motion to establish Chancellor Volunteer Fire Department and was voted the chairman of the building committee for Chancellor's first building. He actively fought fire with Chancellor until 1975. A funeral will be held at 2:30 pm on Sunday, April 25, 2010 at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg Chapel. Interment will follow in Confederate Cemetery at Spotsylvania Courthouse. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Saturday, April 24 at the funeral home.
